Romy is a prosperous businesswoman who enjoys a largely content marriage with Jacob (Antonio Banderas). However, she finds her sexual life lacking. The film opens with her engaging in self-pleasure while watching online pornography after pretending to climax with her husband. When an internship program is introduced at her company, the significantly younger Samuel (Harris Dickinson) seeks her guidance as a mentor. He quickly discerns a particular aspect of her personality, remarking, “You enjoy being directed.” As their relationship develops, he subtly crosses professional lines.
